Graduates, alumni
Thousands of email accounts bearing the name of Silliman have until May 19 before they will be deleted from the server of Silliman University.
The notice of termination of email accounts was announced to all Silliman email account holders in a memorandum from the Information & Communication Technology division.
“To maintain the security of our system, and ensure effective management of University resources, we are implementing updated guidelines regarding the termination of email accounts,” read the memo dated April 8.
The memo informed current students they have access to their University email accounts for a “grace period of 30 days” from the time they graduate from Silliman. After one month, their email accounts “including all associated emails and files stored in Google Drive will be terminated”.
Email accounts of Silliman alumni will also be deleted by May 19. “All affected individuals are strongly advised to back up any important files or emails before this date,” the memo read.
For University employees who have since resigned or retired, they are given a “grace period of 90 days”. After three months, their email accounts “including all associated emails and files in Google Drive” will also be permanently deleted.
