The College of Mass Communication of Silliman University will unveil its Wall of Fame on Aug. 26 at 9a.m., as it celebrates SU’s 121st founding anniversary, according to Dr. Madeline Quiamco, CMC dean.
The Wall of Fame pays tribute to CMC’s outstanding alumni, honor graduates, and pioneer faculty members and administrators.
Another highlight of the celebration is the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement, setting up the Ireneo & Asuncion Maslog Trust Fund for Community Journalism. The MOA will be signed by the donor, Dr. Crispin Maslog, the first regular director of the School of Journalism & Communication, and SU President Dr. Betty Cernol-McCann.
The College will also give special recognition to its Homecoming Jubilarians (Batch 1972) on their 50th anniversary since graduating from college.
In another event to start at 11:00 a.m., two distinguished CMC alumni who are now in the higher echelons of government service will share their experiences and insights.
Asst. Secretary Kira Christianne Danganan-Azucena (BMC ‘94, magna cum laude) of the Office of United Nations & International Organizations at the Department of Foreign Affairs, and Asst. Secretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay (BMC ‘93, cum laude) of the Bureau of Local Employment of the Department of Labor & Employment will speak to alumni and Masscom students during the Balik-Talent Lecture Series at the IMTC Audio Visual Theater.
