A Silliman University Engineering student from Tanzania, Joseph Msafiri Mbilu, was awarded among the Top 3 Most Outstanding International Students in the Philippines. This was the 50th search conducted by the Philippine International Friendship & Understanding Association.

Awarded with Mbilu were a Health Science student from Nigeria, Flourish Oluwafisayo Awe, enrolled at the De La Salle University Medical & Health Science Institute; and an Education student from Russia, Vladimir Zudinov, studying at St. Louis University in Baguio City.

The three international students were chosen from written examinations and a panel interview on several areas like community involvement, talent, academic performance, speech, and knowledge of host country.

Past awardees from Silliman University were student nurses Patrik Norouzi of Iran, Baraka Muvuka of Congo, Diva Putri Wulandari of Indonesia, and Emmanuel Akinbode of Nigeria. (Moses Joshua Atega)
