A Silliman University Psychology major from Indonesia was awarded as one of the Top 3 Most Outstanding International Students in the Philippines, highlighting her academic achievements and leadership in campus.
The student, Anastasia Kambai, was also named International Friendship Awardee in ceremonies held in Baguio City.
Known for her academic excellence and leadership qualities, Kambai is a consistent honor student, and currently serves as president of the Overseas Students Fellowship of Silliman Church.
Her commitment to both her studies and community involvement made her a standout candidate in this annual search organized by the Philippine International Friendship & Understanding Association.
The selection process for the award involved a rigorous three-segment competition. Contestants took written exams covering Philippine historical facts and current events, demonstrated their talents, and engaged in public speaking. Finalists were evaluated based on their academic performance, community service, and leadership skills, showcasing the holistic qualities the award seeks to honor.
Joining Kambai among the top three were Kikou Ikusawa from Japan and studying at Saint Louis University in Baguio City, and Deborah Anirejouritse Eda, a nursing student from Nigeria studying at Lyceum University in Batangas.
The screening for this year’s award took place on Sept. 10 at the University of Sto. Tomas in Manila. (PR)
