Siquijor State College, headed by Dr. Baldomero Martinez Jr., through Business & Management Dean Dr. Expedita O. Duran, spearheaded this year’s Provincial Tourism Day with the theme Tourism — Linking Cultures.

Siquijor Gov. Orlando “Shane” Fua Jr. delivered the inspirational message during the Tourism Cultural Forum. Governor Fua pointed out how Siquijor is leading in the Region’s tourist arrivals.

Keynote speaker during the forum was Rafael Duhaylungsod, founding president of the Sidlakang Negros Association of Tourism Officers and the Tourism Educators Council of Negros Oriental. “Tourism is not a competition but rather, a complementary industry. It’s not simply about festivals, pageants, destinations, and accommodations but how the people appreciate the culture of tourism,” Duhaylungsod said.

The celebration was organized by the SSC School of Tourism headed by Cyd Sarmiento with the support of the Society of Tourism Students. (PR/SSC)
