Police arrested six suspects, including a barangay kagawad in separate anti-illegal drugs operations in Negros Oriental under the Philippine National Police Project Double Barrel Reloaded.
The latest to fall was suspect Bernabe Alega, 21 years old, and a resident of Purok Gumamela, Sitio Canday-ong in Barangay Calindagan, Dumaguete City.
Around 12:55 a.m. Friday, personnel of the Negros Oriental PNP’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (and the Dumaguete Police Station conducted a buy-bust operation in Sitio Canday-ong and arrested thereafter Alega, who yield two pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu powder.
The suspected shabu weighed more or less 3.5 grams with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board Value of P38,500.00, a police report said.
On Thursday, police operatives arrested Noli Tome Dayanan, 35, single and a resident of Purok 6, Barangay Cangmating in Sibulan, Negros Oriental, around 9:50 p.m. after allegedly selling suspected shabu.
On the same day in Amlan, town police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operatives arrested around 3:15 p.m. in Barangay Bio-os Danel Garopil Estanil, 23, single, jobless and a resident of that barangay, during a buy-bust operation.
Confiscated from him were one transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu and the P500 marked bill used in the buy-bust.
Over in Mabinay town in central Negros Oriental, barangay councilor Jerry Balasabas Andales, 45 years old, of Barangay Pantao, was arrested also in a buy-bust operation after he allegedly sold a piece of cut drinking plastic straw with suspected shabu inside.
The barangay kagawad was arrested around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday by Mabinay police, personnel of the PNP’s Regional Public Safety Battalion and local PDEA operatives.
On the same day, operatives in Bacong town arrested around 8:45 p.m. Joven Kinikitio Quillano, 32, married and a resident of Taclobo, Dumaguete City, during a buy-bust operation.
The police confiscated from him two transparent plastic sachets with suspected shabu granules, cash amounting to P2,120.00 and the P500.00 marked bill used in the buy-bust.
Meanwhile, a suspect who was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant against him for carnapping yielded suspected shabu during a subsequent search.
The Provincial Highway Patrol Team led by Sr. Insp. Robelito Mariano, in a joint operation with the PNP’s Provincial Public Safety Company served the warrant of arrest Wednesday against Juffer Calliat Torres of Zone 2, By-Pass Road in Barangay Looc, Dumaguete City.
The warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Marie Rose Inocando Paras of the Regional Trial Court Branch 42 in Dumaguete City, with a bail bond fixed at P300,000.00.
During the search incidental to the lawful arrest, the law enforcers recovered from the right side of his shorts’ pocket two transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, disposable lighters and cash.
Negros Oriental PNP Acting Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Henry Biñas had warned that after Oplan Tokhang, they would now be concentrating more on the arrests of suspected drug pushers who continue with the illegal drugs trade despite repeated warnings against it. (PNA/JFP)
