Six people were chosen for the Outstanding Dumaguetnons award to be given by the city government for their exemplary contributions to the community and to the country.

The awarding ceremony will be held on November 22 at 4 p.m. at Bethel Guest House as part of the city’s charter day anniversary and fiesta celebrations on November 24 and 25, respectively.

The Outstanding Dumaguetenons 2012 awardees are pictured above: (seating from left to right side) Mr. Connie Rasid (Field of Agriculture), Mrs. Rosalie A. Lariosa (Field of Education), Mrs. Catalina F. Amasula (Public Service), Atty. Arturo V. Umbac (Public Service), Judge Rafael Cresencio Tan, Jr. (Field of law) and Mr. Henry C. Espedido (Journalism) not in photo. Also in the picture are Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria and members of the search committee (from left to right) Lourdes A. Taburaza, Dr. Ramir Uytico and City Administrator William Ablong.

The city government and the committee originally intended to choose ten Dumaguetnons during its first year to hold the awards but due to time constraints settled for six honorees, said City Administrator William Ablong.

Ablong said there are more Dumaguetnons that deserve to be recognized but were not recommended due to lack of information regarding the award.

The search committee is grateful to individuals who made the effort of sending recommendations which were the initial basis to identify the awardees. (PNA)
