The President of the Negros Oriental State University is considering other options as soon as his term expires in July of 2012.
Dr. Henry A. Sojor has thought of three options, namely, to take a rest, accept offers by big colleges and universities in Cebu for him to become president, or consider running for a seat in the provincial government.
Under the NORSU Charter, the Board of Regents may decide to extend his term until a replacement is found, but Sojor said he is going to serve his term up to July 2012 only.
Sojor confirmed that several quarters are pushing for him to take a crack of the vice governorship of the Province of Negros Oriental. Recognizing his limitations, the NORSU President said he will respond to it at the proper time.
Records of the Provincial Board disclosed that Sojor was elected by the entire Province as the Number 1 Provincial Board member before accepting the offer to become president of NORSU, formerly the Central Visayas Polytechnic College.
Sojor said there are a lot of things to consider, foremost of which is resources. He said it is a problem for anybody who is considered to be “very popular but without money”, on how to convert the popularity into votes. “I know my limitations, but the good Lord works in mysterious ways,” he said.
