The Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) industry in Negros Oriental is at a turning point, with the emergence of another major player in the market.
Local distributors are working double time to keep their existing customers, and hopefully win over the ones who demand better service.
Solane LPG dealer Ernesto Quiamco is firm in his belief that barring excessive price cuts and sales gimmicks by other dealers, his product is still the product to beat.
Except for the change in name, each tank of Solane contains the same gas as the one previously sold under the Shellane brand.
“Each Solane tank gives you a clear blue flame at the click of your burner,” businessman Quiamco says.
On top of the guarantee that every new tank contains exactly 11 kilos of LPG, Quiamco also takes pride in their quick delivery service.
“For as long as you are in the commercial district, we guarantee delivery within 30 minutes,” he says, adding that it may take a little longer for the farther barangays.
Solane’s loyal clients are found not just in homes but also in hotels, restaurants, hospitals, bakeries, schools, and other establishments, with free installation and servicing by company-trained technicians for its institutional clients.
One may think this is just plain sales talk, but Solane’s clients are standing by every word.
One loyal Solane client is the Scooby’s fastfood chain. Proprietor Maisa Sagarbarria has turned down offers from other LPG distributors, saying she is more than satisfied with Solane’s after-sales service. “I like their technician — he really knows what to do,” Sagarbarria says, adding that Solane immediately sends a technician when needed, regardless of whether the store is in Dumaguete or in Tanjay.
For Bethel Guest House and Cang’s Inc., Solane has been the brand of choice. “We have been using Solane, ever since, starting with Shellane,” says Roy Cang, proprietor of both institutions.
“We continue to patronize them because of Solane’s prompt service. Professional advice is always available. We were offered by other suppliers but I find their package incomplete,” Cang says.
But what Cang probably appreciates most with Solane is that he is assured of the quality of service because its distributor (Quiamco) pays attention to even the smallest detail. “Attention to detail is important in this kind of business,” he said.
