SIATON, NEGROS ORIENTAL — The 79TH Infantry (Masaligan) Battalion, the 3RD Infantry (Spearhead) Division, Philippine Army in partnership with Cherry Mobile Company distributed backpacks filled with grade- appropriate school supplies to 14 selected elementary schools in Negros Oriental and Siquijor provinces.
Dubbed as Be Cool in School, the project intends to provide elementary school children with more tools they need for learning.
The distribution of school supplies was conducted in three consecutive days and initiated its project launching on July 7 at Tapon Norte Elementary School with 318 pupils in the town of San Jose, with Col. Allan F Martin, 302 Brigade commander.
The other school beneficiaries for this program are Nabhang Elementary School in Ayungon with 237 pupils; Lag-it Elementary School in Tayasan with 169 pupils; Basak Elementary School in the town of San Jose with 97 pupils; Inawasan Elementary School in Pamplona with 131 pupils; Datagon Elementary School also in Pamplona with 100 pupils; Kanggabok Elementary School in Sta Catalina with 211 pupils; Salingkubong Elementary School in Siaton with 258 pupils.
In Siquijor, the selected schools are Punong Elementary School with 100 pupils; Pulangyuta Elementary School, with 100 pupils; Pangi Elementary School with 75 pupils; San Antonio Elementary School with 75 pupils; Cang-alwang Elementary School with 75 pupils; and Bolos Elementary School with 75 pupils.
Meanwhile, Angela Puti and Jan Marvin Bernedo of Cherry Mobile, said the distribution of school supplies is one of their Company’s outreach programs prioritizing those who are in need, and as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
The teachers and the pupils wholeheartedly thanked the 79IB and the Cherry Mobile Company for selecting their school as one of the beneficiaries.
“The 79TH Infantry (Masaligan) Battalion is currently vigorously conducting activities that promote advocacy for education and health of children, like the program that we call Hero’s Challenge and Feeding Program with the Oriental Negros Children’s Advocacy Network.
