The Sangguniang Panlunsod of Dumaguete will again invite resource persons from the Department of Public Works & Highways, the Philippine Reclamation Authority, and the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce & Industry Inc. for its next session to discuss the wave deflector project in barangays Looc and Piapi.
Representatives from both agencies initially briefed the members of the City Council on the design of the breakwater, which also will be accumulating sand over time.
The invitation was issued to both agencies after Dr. Frances Hope Yap, an environment advocate, wrote the City Council asking if the Council was required to submit a Certificate of No Objection, as Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Remollo had already issued a Letter of No Objection.
The PRA representative clarified, during the session, that the Certificate or Letter of No Objection to the project they require is the one that comes from the local government unit. (AP)
