The Pro Life Advocacy team of St. Paul University Dumaguete and Philchan Dumaguete participated in a four-day training on Pastoral HIV and AIDS Care, Counseling & Testing in Cebu City.

This training was sponsored by the Department of Health, through the collaborative efforts of the Philippine National AIDS Council, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines Episcopal Commission on Health Care with Rev. Fr. Dan Vicente Cancino as one of the resource speakers, the Woodwater Center for Healing (Camillians), and Philchan Visayas headed by Sr. Mila Grace Silab.

The activity equipped the participants with the basic skills on risk assessment and counseling before HIV testing and post-counseling test. A thorough discussion on RA 8504 protecting the PLHIV and AIDS, and the issue of confidentiality were tackled.

Philchan’s ABCDE Advocacy against HIV and AIDS is based on Abstinence from sex, Being mutually-faithful, Correct Choice and Conscience, Drug-free, and Education.

It aims for Zero Stigma, Zero Discrimination, and Zero AIDS-related Deaths. (PR)
