Fifteen Paulinian student finalists throughout the Philippines under the St. Paul University System gathered FEb. 7 to 9 in Metro Manila for the batch formation and awarding ceremony of the Top 5 — Search for the Outstanding Paulinian (SOP) Students of the Philippines.

Nica Jean Ignacio, a fourth year BS Education major in Mathematics student, as well as the vice president of the Paulinian Supreme Student Government, PVCD volunteer and a consistent Department Head’s Lister, was chosen as one of the top 5 Outstanding Paulinian Students, along with the other four awardees from St. Paul Manila, St. Paul Iloilo, St. Paul Tuguegarao, and St. Paul Surigao.

Aside from Ignacio, four other students from SPUD were part of the top 15 finalists: Joshua Eleazar Domen (BSIT IV), Sean Adrian Guardiano (BSIT IV), and Regina Clarina Elmaco (BSED IV).

The search recognizes Paulinian students who best embody the Pauline values of Christ-centeredness, commitment to the mission, charity, charism and community while academically excellent, leadership—proficient and socially-concerned.

Meanwhile, Eduard Joseph Narciso, a third year B. Business Administration major in Management Marketing student, and treasurer of the Supreme Student Government, is one of the 80 leaders chosen by the Ayala Young Leaders Congress together with other two students from Silliman University and Foundation University.

The Ayala gathering was held Feb. 7 to 10 at the San Miguel Corp. Training Center in Tagaytay City, dubbed as AYLC Winning Hearts and Minds: Changing Paradigms with Education Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro as keynote speaker.

According to Narciso, out of 809 applicants, only 179 passed the panel interview and 80 leaders were chosen. The 14th AYLC is named as Batch Salimbay wherein the selected leaders are tasked to create an initiative for community-building. (PR — SPUD External Affairs)
