The president of the Paulinian Supreme Student Government of St. Paul University Dumaguete recently came home from a month of study grant for the Study of the US Institute for Student Leaders in New Media & Journalism sponsored by the US Department of State — Bureau of Educational & Cultural Affairs held June 24 to July 29 at Ball State University in Indiana.
Fourth year Business Administration student, Eduard Joseph Narciso, is back at the SPUD campus after a five-week study grant that included a series of classes in American history, politics, culture, American journalism, videography, stills photography, audio editing, and other platforms in new media in an international setting. Leadership classes were also held. They were exposed to community service and public relations at Habitat for Humanity, and Second Harvest Food Bank of America. The program concluded with study tours at the New York Times, Voice of America, WRTV-8, and Indiana Public Radio.
Narciso received an achievement award from the Study of the United States Institute, Department of Journalism & Department of Telecommunications for successfully completing the academic requirements of the grant.
Earlier, Narciso was one of the Philippine Tohoku Youth ambassadors to the Great East Japan earthquake recovery efforts. He was also selected to be part of the Ayala Young Leaders Congress in Manila. (SPUD External Affairs)
