“If you invent something that really doesn’t affect your daily life, you disappear. But if you innovate, if you resolve something that affect the most ordinary person in the society then you have huge impact,” said University President Victor Vicente G. Sinco during the DOST Dumaguete University Town Innovation Expo held November 28 to 29 at Robinsons Place Dumaguete.

In the said expo, FU President Sinco clearly stated the institution’s goals of producing solutions through its projects, programs and even through the graduates and students by equipping them with the enough knowledge and skills for the benefit of future employers and the community, as well.

He also added, “When you have solutions that’s when you attract people towards you.”

President Dean Sinco also mentioned during the interview along with other leaders from the different academic institutions for higher learning that getting exposure is the key towards being acknowledged in the international scene. For him, acknowledgement can be won when things are done to solve the problem not merely to grab attention.

“One thing I learned many years ago. Innovations and inventions are pretty much of the same line,” added President Sinco.

On the other hand, he also shared on how the University envisions its students and their future role in the community. President Sinco then talked about FU’s approach to success, which is not so much about passing the examinations but more on the net effect of its products in the community.

“I could say that our computer science graduates are really in high demand even to the point that some of them already have a job before they graduate. In architecture, they are also in high demand especially with Estudio Damgo project,” uttered the University President in relation to how the institution produces students more specifically in the technological and creative aspects of knowledge.

He then shared to other higher institutions of learning that they should pursue what they are passionate about.
