The Institute of Youth Sports for Peace (IYSP) celebrated its 8th anniversary last July 7 at the Greyhound Garden.
The brainchild of Dr. Aparicio H. Mequi, IYSP aims to promote peace through sports interactions among youth. Focusing on what the late Mahatma Gandhi said, “If we wish to create a lasting peace, we must begin with the children,” Dr. Mequi has initiated IYSP.
IYSP has been at the forefront of establishing youth sports clinics and tournaments within Negros Oriental. Recently, they had done games on Basketball (3on3), Badminton and Volleyball under partnership with the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
IYSP also spearheaded the Negros Athletic Association (NAA)- an athletic league characterized by a sustainable and professionally managed sports competition programs as a component of the quality and holistic educational experiences of children and youth for their development and formation.
