Silliman University distributes another batch of relief goods consisting of five kilos of rice and canned goods to its displaced outsourced personnel starting Wednesday, April 29, 2020.

At least 350 personnel including the security guards will receive the goods from donations of kind-hearted and generous alumni and friends of the University. The outsourced personnel, that includes janitorial, utility, maintenance, and cafeteria crew, were not allowed to report for work amid the CoViD-19 pandemic.

The first batch of goods were distributed last month to the same personnel affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine.

Adlai Amor, Outstanding Sillimanian awardee, and former member of the Board of Trustees, helped in funding the second distribution relief goods to the displaced personnel and security guards.

SU faculty and staff also contributed in making the distribution possible.

Silliman President Dr. Betty Cernol-McCann said the University is forever grateful to these generous donors who always answer the call for help amid a crisis.

She said that unity amid a crisis is important as she emphasized that “a lot of people have been affected by the CoViD-19 pandemic. Outsourced personnel, stranded students, the frontliners, and the entire community have been compromised due the lockdown or the ECQ and they need our help.” (SU/OIP)
