As part of the 52nd Church Workers Convocation hosted by Silliman University Divinity School led by Dean Dr. Lope Robin, the Banikanhong Magdudula, a cultural group composed of Divinity students will perform an original theater production titled Pinagpapala. The performance will be staged on Aug. 29 at 8pm at the Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium.
The play was inspired by testimonies of returning Divinity interns and pastors, and was written/directed by Dessa Quesada-Palm, artistic director of the Youth Advocates through Theater Arts (YATTA).
Original music for the play was composed by Divinity faculty and Pinagpapala musical director Jean Cuanan-Nalam, together with Divinity students Gary Michael del Rosario, Vivian Tamonan, and Janess Tomacas.
Artistic team includes YATTA artists Earnest Hope Tinambacan as assistant director, Ricky Nelson Cimafranca as choreographer, and Junsly Kitay as production designer.
According to Rev. Dr. Jeaneth Harris-Faller, chair of this year’s convocation, the theme centers on Christian Education: Empowering the Church for Mission, with focus on The Quest for an Empowering Christian Education in the Local Church. The convocation will run from Aug. 27 until Aug. 31st. (BM)
