Silliman University on Monday donated two additional brand new XR200 motorcycles to the city police for its Quick Response Team (QRT).
This brings to three the total motorcycle units the University has donated to the city police to boost their mobility while responding to crime scenes, conducting regular patrols and other peacekeeping activities.
Silliman University President Dr. Ben Malayang III handed over the motorcycles to Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria during Monday’s flag raising ceremony at the City Hall.
The Mayor then turned over the motorcycles to Dumaguete Police Chief Supt. James Goforth.
Dr. Malayang said the donation is a show of support of the Silliman community to help the City government in its peace and order program.
Mayor Sagarbarria, for his part, lauded the support of Silliman University to the police, especially to the Quick Response Team, in patrolling city streets and outskirt barangays in the city.
The donation exemplifies the cooperation and partnership between government and the private sector for the maintenance of peace and order in the City of Gentle People, Mayor Sagarbarria said in a statement.
Sagarbarria also urged the private sector to help the City government through various forms of donations as it cannot perform alone the job of maintaining peace and order.
Vice-Mayor Woodrow Maquiling Sr., City Administrator William Ablong, City Councilors Antonio Remollo and Lani Ramon, and staff of Silliman University were also present during the simple turn-over activity.
Also, Silliman University donated two big wall clocks, currently installed at the Quezon Park. (PNA/JFP)
