The Dumaguete City government conducted a seminar-workshop on the effective implementation and enforcement of local ordinances, and values formation to all department heads last week at city hall.
City Information Officer Steve Gabriel said the three-day training familiarized the participants guidelines on provision of services particularly in the implementation of the Task Force SAGARR (Special Action Group Advocating for Rapid Reforms).
The creation of “Task Force SAGARR” enforces existing city ordinances and ensures an efficient execution of the various tasks under the Office of the City Mayor.
Last year, Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria issued Executive Order no.10, designating City Administrator William Ablong as the ground commander of the task force.
Ablong called on the city officials concerned to participate in the workshop as this can help them in addressing problems in the city.
Gabriel expects that the series of training of the Task Force SAGARR team will make the said task force fully operational.
To address the demand for accountability, 11 officials were designated to follow up on seven (7) major tasks.
The specific tasks, and the person(s) assigned to lead the team for each task, are: 1) hot meat pursuit, chemically contaminated vegetables and stray animals, Charles Tubog; 2) anti-smoking campaign, solid waste management, sanitation and food safety, Edgar Caro; 3) truancy, anti-vagrancy, anti-mendicancy, prostitution, massage parlors, KTV Bars, Laume Quijote; 4) anti-squatting and idle lots, Engr. Renier Enario; 5) updated tax ordinance, business permit, omnibus tax ordinance, illegal and sidewalk vendors, Joey Abella and Richard Duran; 6) traffic, road hazards and obstruction, Danny Atillo; 7) Market Code and Updated Tax Ordinance, Glenn Villamil; 8) sale of liquor, curfew; cyber space, night blocks and the city fire marshall, board and lodging houses, Ronnie Calawod .
