Aspiring teachers in Negros Oriental who were previously registered to take the Licensure Examination for Teachers administered by the Professional Regulation Commission will finally be accommodated this week after the activity was canceled last year due to the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.

Gerdel Bordadora, chief administrative officer of the PRC in Region 7, in an interview on Monday said the first batch of 515 examinees are scheduled for the teachers’ board exams on Sunday, Sept. 26 at the Negros Oriental State University main campus here.

This is the first-ever LET to be held in Negros Oriental. In the past, examiners usually took the tests in Cebu City.

Bordadora said the exams will be for teachers in the grade school and secondary (junior and senior high) levels.

Last year, the PRC admitted around 2,000 applicants from Negros Oriental to take the LET here, but the quarantine restrictions caused the examinations to be postponed, she recalled.

The second batch of examinees is scheduled for January next year, the third batch in March, and the fourth batch in June, Bordadora noted, adding that each batch consists of 500 individuals.

She also said they are not yet accepting new applicants for the LET, although inquiries will be accommodated at the PRC satellite office at Robinsons Mall here. (Judy F. Partlow/PNA)
