The future of Bayawan City is in good hands, assured Mayor Pryde Henry Teves as he delivered his first State of the City Address for his first term Thursday evening in that southern town of Negros Oriental.
Mayor Teves delivered his SOCA before the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s inaugural session held at the city’s amphitheater.
Teves said that all his actions and plans started during the Executive and Legislative Agenda on what direction the city will take under his administration.
This includes identifying areas in which the city has improved and where further improvement will continue to improve the system geared towards his vision for the city to become a sustainable community.
He also reported the city’s accomplishments under his administration, such as the successful transfer of the city hall to the new government center, reform in the procurement process by putting up a one stop shop, concreting of farm to market roads, the construction of a 120-bed capacity hospital and the installation of Closed Circuit TV cameras.
The mayor hopes to inaugurate the new hospital in December this year, adding the city will also be buying equipment for the farmers.
Mayor Teves further said he also ventured in the Public Private Partnership in the implementation of the city’s various projects, such as construction of a modern mall, construction of a P200 million sports center for sports development, and construction of a modernized park, among thers.
Teves the former chief executives for the foundation they started for Bayawan, which he will pursue, his family, the legislative council, City Hall officials and employees and all that have supported his administration during his first term as mayor.
Mayor Teves was elected in May 2016 as Bayawan mayor after he completed three terms in Congress as representative of the 3rd district of Negros Oriental. (JFP/Syril Repe)
