Here are some benefits of being grateful:
One research (R. Davidhizar 2005, J of Prac Nurs Winter) reports: The little effort of saying “thank you” or of writing and sending a “thank you” can have benefits far beyond the value of the moments involved. “Thank you” can motivate, validate, and give positive reinforcement. “Thank you” for the ordinary as well as the extraordinary can enhance the nurse’s interpersonal relationships immeasurably and make it well worth the time spent. You can’t afford to not say thank you frequently and graciously to those around you.
Sheela Raja, a clinical psychologist says: “Research suggests that individuals who are grateful in their daily lives actually report fewer stress-related health symptoms, including headaches, gastrointestinal (stomach) issues, chest pain, muscle aches, and appetite problems.”
Saying thanks for something nice that happened to us or celebrating on Thanksgiving –is a whole way of looking at the world. In addition, according to positive psychologists, the words ‘thank you‘ are no longer just good manners, they are also beneficial to the self.
In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. — 1 Thessalonians 5:18
