The Dec. 17 early morning rescue of 32 crewmen and passengers of the capsized MV Ever Transport III cargo ship in Dumaguete, taken by Dumaguete MetroPost photographer Melissa Alexandra B. Pal, went viral in a matter of hours and created 4,543 stories from Facebook users, generating 43,933 clicks as of Dec. 21.
This photo, which also appeared in GMA News and the Philippine Daily Inquirer, gave the MetroPost its biggest worldwide readership in a matter of hours. A story is created when someone “Likes” your page on Facebook, posts a comment on your page, “Shares” one of your page posts on their wall or their friends’ walls, answers a question you posted, responds to your event, mentions your page, tags your page in a photo, checks in at your Place, or recommends your Place.
