‘The Road’ begins haunting Nov 30

GMA Films delivers the scariest blockbuster movie event this year that will satisfy the viewers’ cravings for a dose of unimaginable terror and suspense via The Road.

Set to hit theatres on Nov. 30, The Road, which is helmed by internationally-acclaimed Director Yam Laranas, is loaded with thrills and cliffhangers that capture the viewers’ imagination and interest from beginning to end. The psychological-thriller brings together the network’s finest and most talented roster of artists, whose character portrayals were given equal premium, emphasizing further their acting fortes.

Leading the powerhouse cast are Carmina Villarroel, Marvin Agustin, Rhian Ramos, Barbie Forteza and TJ Trinidad together with Alden Richards, Louise delos Reyes, Derrick Monasterio, Lexi Fernandez, Ynna Asistio and Renz Valerio.

Playing equally significant roles are John Regala, Lloyd Samartino, Gerald Madrid, Allan Paule and Ms Jacklyn Jose. Also starring are Dex Quindoza and Ana Abad Santos.

The Road is about a twelve-year-old cold case which is reopened when three teens are missing in an abandoned road. In the course of the investigation, deeper and gruesome stories of abduction and murders are discovered. After more than two decades, the secrets of the road are finally revealed and the ghost lingering the dark and desolate pathway is out to make sure nobody leaves alive.

Director Yam assures that the film will provide moviegoers many chilling moments as the characters try to figure out how to escape the haunted road. The shocking twists and turns will keep the viewers on the edge of their seats as the movie goes on to unravel quite a horrifying mystery. Who is the protagonist? Who is the real culprit?

Aside from the creativity of its award-winning director and the compelling performances of the cast members, The Road also boasts of the hauntingly beautiful music and sound design created by Swedish composer Johan Soderqvist who received international recognitions for scoring the 2009 horror-thriller, Let the Right One In.

On top of that, The Road is currently drawing rave reviews from venerable horror critics in the international arena. Early reviews include praises from the editor-in-chief of Bloody Disgusting, Brad Miska. His website is considered to be the world’s most popular horror website with millions of page views every month. Miska said that Laranas’ newest flick is “a beautifully shot, twisted supernatural tale with incredible FX and great scares!”

Jason Bebe of KillerFilm.com echoes Miska’s positive comment on The Road saying that it is “creepy to the extreme. It gets under your skin and stays there” while Todd Brown, editor-in-chief of Twitch Film notes the “stunning cinematography and sound design combine to create a truly unsettling atmosphere.”

With the world-class production values and superb cinematography, GMA Films’ upcoming suspense-thriller makes it at par with international standards of Hollywood films in the same genre.
