“Sleepless nights. Uncertainty. You don’t understand what you feel.”

That was how Gov. Roel Degamo described what he had been going through in the last four months since he “lost” to Pryde Henry Teves during the May 2022 elections.

He told reporters he is happy to be back at the Capitol, and that he will buckle down to work to implement the plans and projects he had made before his administration was derailed by the four-month standoff.

He, however, said there is a benefit to all the suffering he went through. “This is [considered] another interruption [in my term of office]. Instead of [ending my three terms in] 2025, because we were interrupted, there will be plus three terms until 2034!”

He was referring to his chance of being governor for three more terms of three years each term, or a total of nine more years until the year 2034.

“That is probably the only benefit I got from this because to tell you, it was not an easy experience. I suffered a lot,” Degamo said.

He said his foremost thought during those sleepless nights was what would happen to the Province.

“I realize that there is really a God. God is good, and God is powerful. All my prayers were answered in his perfect time,” he said.

He said if this happened at another time, his opponents would probably have been able to secure a Temporary Restraining Order.
