Three candidates are vying for the position of General Manager of the Negros Oriental 2 Electric Cooperative (NORECO 2), following the retirement of GM Ephraim Taclob one year ago.
The three candidates are acting GM Dionefred Macahig, Internal Audit Office Manager Eunora Sameon and Engineering Department Head Chito Lozano.
Sameon, 58, started her career with the National Electrification Administration; Macahig, 55, used to work with the defunct Visayan Electric Cooperative; and Lozano, 48, worked at the Philippine National Oil Corporation.
NORECO 2 Board Chairman James Fontelo said the candidates were selected by a search committee chaired by former Negros Oriental State University President Henry Sojor. The search committee only looked for candidates from the employees of the NORECO 2.
One requirement for the applicants is to attend a public forum on September 7 at the NORECO 2 multipurpose centre and answer questions from member-consumers.
They will also be subjected to a panel interview at the coop board room on September 14.
Meanwhile, Lozano and Board secretary Jufer Aguilar will leave for China next week to check on the 4,428 concrete electric poles, worth around P52 million, that were purchased by the electric cooperative from Yonder Industry Company in Zhejiang, China.
Fontelo said after the inspection, Sumai International Inc., contracted by NORECO 2 to supply the poles, will ship the electrical posts directly to the port of Ducomi in Bacong, then to a storage facility in Dauin, both in Negros Oriental, he added. (PNA/JG)
