Tithing

Start them young, they say. And one of the best ways to teach our children as young as they are is the principle of sacrifice.

Tithing is one of the best opportunities to teach our kids the essence of the latter, coupled with faith.

It’s an opportunity to think less of ourselves, and more of others, especially single to the glory of our Savior.

By sparing 10 percent of our honest tithes, we extend our help in furthering Heavenly Father’s work.

By sparing 10 percent of our tithes, we become instruments to help build his Kingdom even Zion. Part of which goes to the church’s many worldwide programs, including its educational, missionary, building, humanitarian and welfare efforts.

It’s a double blessing.

By paying tithing, we are able to show our gratitude to our Heavenly Father, in return for the many blessings (both seen and unseen) that we receive.

By so doing, we become entitled to the Savior’s grace and mercy.

We spare 10 percent plus all our heart suggesting to our minds that we pay our tithing from a willing heart, and not just from your pocket.

We can choose to keep 100 percent of it all for ourselves, but not have the Lord’s help.

Or we can keep 90 percent plus the Lord’s help.

And by so doing, our 10 percent to the Lord is exchanged with his 90 percent. That counts for both temporal and spiritual.

So do the math, and see how Heavenly Father’s grace extends so much more than we can comprehend, when we act in faith.

The Lord declared, “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” (Malachi 3:10)

So how far does our 10 percent go? It transcends far more than any luxury in this world.

It goes as far as opening the windows of Heaven that there simply wouldn’t be enough room to receive it.

I testify that the Lord is always mindful of our hearts.

He has showed us miracles time and time again. as we have kept this wonderful privilege to pay tithing.

What a wonderful opportunity to see God’s grace manifest in our lives, sustaining us not just in some but all our challenges and trials.

I know these things to be true. I am His witness in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
