The number of recipients in this year’s distribution of white gifts to indigents in Dumaguete City will be doubled from 10,000 last year to 20,000 this year, according to City Mayor Felipe Remollo.
The mayor’s proposal will be submitted to the city council for funding sources because Christmas is just around the corner and that preparation for such a big number of beneficiaries will take time.
Remollo has proposed for the realignment of the remaining P3 million of the P6 million intelligence fund of the office of the city mayor this year to the Pamaskong Handog project, so more indigent families can avail at P300 worth of gift packs per family.
At the same time, recipients of the share-a-meal program of the city for indigent children will also be doubled to 10,500 recipients this year at P100 per children or a total P7,050,000.00.
To complete the funding requirement, Remollo has also proposed the realignment of the government equity and unappropriated surplus from the general fund of more than P4 million.
Meanwhile, starting this week, city hall regular and casual plantilla employees will receive their 13th month bonus and cash gift of P5,000. (PNA)
