Thousands of athletes, coaches and parents from all over the country will converge in Dumaguete City in the first week of April for this year’s Little League Philippine series qualifying competitions.
Mayor Felipe Antonio “Ipe” Remollo has already coordinated with the Department of Education to help in accommodating the thousands of visitors to the summer games that will bring more than 70 baseball and softball charter teams (to include winning teams of Deped’s Palaro) here in the city to compete in 4 categories: major, junior, 50-70, seniors.
In fact, Mayor Remollo will form a joint Dumaguete and Negros Oriental team to represent the host city in the games.
Nevertheless, Mayor Remollo is optimistic of the positive economic impact of the event to the local business and tourism industry.
Most parents and their supporters are expected to stay in hotels and dine in our restaurants throughout their stay.
Winning teams will represent the country to the Little League Asian leg with the ultimate goal of competing in the world series in the United States of America. (PIO)
