The Department of Tourism regional office will hold a seven-day Homestay Training Program by the end of March or early April.

According to Myla Mae Bromo-Abellana, provincial tourism officer, they are looking for about 30 participants to join the program.

She added that by mid-March, Judy Gabato, chief tourism operations officer of DOT-Central Visayas, and her staff will be in the Province to inspect the houses of the applicants for the homestay program.

The training dates will be determined after inspection.

Basic requirements for a homestay program include at least one room for the guests, with clean comfort room with bath.

Meanwhile, DOT7 will also conduct a Basic Tour-guiding Training in August.

Abellana said they also aim to gather more applicants from the Province so that the 25-day training can be held right here in Negros Oriental.

Applicants must submit a letter of intent, a resumé with photo, transcript of records, and photocopy of a college diploma. The DOT7 will screen the documents before they can be including in the list of participants.

For inquiries, please contact Ruvilu Lumacao at 225-1825, 422-0675, or 0905-832-5400.
