The United Coconut Planters Bank and the Coco Industry Investment Fund, more commonly known as Coco Foundation, picked Negros Oriental State University to host at least 10 scholars starting academic year 2012-2013.
In March this year, Henzel Mae Ymbol, a UCPB-CIIF scholar at NORSU taking up bachelor of science in mathematics graduated with the highest honor, Summa Cum Laude. Ymbol is a native of San Juan, Siquijor.
Edgardo Amistad, president, UCPB-CIIF Foundation, Inc., sent a letter to NORSU president Dr. Henry A. Sojor expressing that they are very proud their scholar qualified the highest honor. The letter stated, “Your advocacy for Excellence has guided her to strive to the highest academic performance as well as hone her leadership skills.” The letter also informed Dr. Sojor that Henzel Mae Ymbol starts to work with the UCPB group this April.
For first semester 2012-13, the Coco Foundation has 100 scholarship slots in 10 different colleges in the country. Recipients are children of coconut farmers.
