Runners and adult leukemia advocates in Negros Oriental will hold a 50-kilometer ultramarathon dubbed The Gentle Mile: EPCALM’s Battle against Adult Leukemia, One Step at a Time on May 11 from Bais City to Dumaguete City.
The 50K run aims to raise public consciousness on adult leukemia, and to promote the intention of the Erwin P Cabanag Adult Leukemia Memorial Foundation to help leukemia patients and their families, organizers said.
To intensify public awareness and support for adult leukemia patients, the EPCALM together with the Negros Oriental Sports Development Program, the Silliman University Medical Center Foundation Inc., the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, ONe Rescue, the Dumaguete Adventure Runners & Striders (DARS) and the MetroDumaguete Roadrunners Club (MDRC) will hold a press conference-launch on March 26 at 9am at the NOSDEP at the Lamberto Macias Sports & Cultural Center.
Atty. Riodil Montebon of EPCALM; Paultom Paras of NOSDEP, Atty. Myles Bejar of IBP; Annaliza Tabunag of SUMC, Dr. Kenneth Coo of ONe Rescue; Maripol Rotea-Tecson of DARS, and Bernabe Bustillo of MDRC are expected during the media briefing to talk more about adult leukemia, thier advocacy campaigns, and the ultramarathon.
