9072 ‘users, pushers’ surrender to PNP

The number of “drug users and pushers” in Negros Oriental who have voluntarily surrendered to the Philippine National Police since July 1st continues to rise as Oplan TokHang and Project Double Barrel are bolstered without let up, according to Provincial Director Police Sr. Supt. Nestor Tiempo.

As of July 22, records at the Negros Oriental PNP Provincial Office showed that 8,677 users and 395 pushers have reported to the different police stations for profiling and documentation, said Atty. Darlene Eltanal, newly-designated spokesperson of NORPPO.

The latest figures: Amlan 265 users; Ayungon 218 users, 48 pushers; Bacong 420 users, seven pushers; Bais City 357 users, 75 pushers; Basay 63 users, six pushers; Bayawan City 302 users, 25 pushers; Bindoy 70 users, seven pushers; Canlaon City 213 users, eight purshers; Dauin 296 users, one pusher; Dumaguete City 560 users, 57 pushers; Guihungan City 851 users, 17 pushers; Jimalalud 221 users, four pushers; La Libertad 334 users, 12 pushers; Mabinay 478 users, 14 pushers; Manjuyod 67 users, four pushers; Pamplona 200 users, 13 pushers; San Jose 310 users, four pushers; Siaton 583 users; Sibulan 1,026 users, eight pushers; Sta. Catalina 453 users, 23 pushers; Tanjay City 549 users, 33 pushers; Tayasan 108 users, 21 pushers; Valencia 326 ushers, seven pushers; Vallehermoso 201 users, one pusher; Zamboanguita 206 users.

Meanwhile, the Valencia police station conducted an oath taking ceremony Thursday in relation to Oplan TokHang. Valencia Police Chief Alfonso Enriquez, together with barangay officials, conducted the ceremony of “drug personalities” in Barangay Caidiocan.

Nineteen “drug personalities” who had voluntarily surrendered to the police took their oath and voluntarily committed themselves to stop their involvement in the illegal drugs trade, and support the anti-illegal drugs program of the PNP, said Chief Insp. Enriquez.

Drug personalities in Valencia are identified and accounted for based on the respective Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council drugs watch list, he added.

Also present during the oathtaking were selected students from Caidiocan Elementary School with their advisers, and residents of the said barangay. (PNA)
