VALENCIA — Mayor Edgar Teves here has ordered the temporary closure of the flea market (paunayan), a public foodcourt on Sundays in the town plaza, and a cockpit, as contained in an Executive Order that also restricts the convergence of more than five people in public places.
These measures were announced as the town of Valencia has implemented stricter measures against the coronavirus disease 2019.
Teves ordered the deferment of all barangay fiesta-related activities for the entire month of March. He also called on Valencianons to avoid attending events, meetings, and gatherings to prevent the transmission of CoViD-19, echoing a similar call made by Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo.
With Valencia town being one of the prime tourist destinations in the province, Teves recommended to resort operators to impose strict monitoring and restricting entry of guests who have travel history from areas affected by COVID-19.
In an emergency meeting he called on early Friday, Teves directed the mobilization of all barangay health workers and barangay officials to monitor and record returning residents and transients who had traveled from areas with recorded CoVid-19 cases. (Des Tilos Jr)
