Candidates for the May 2025 elections will start the process of filing their Certificates of Candidacy beginning Tuesday. We will be seeing several personalities seeking elective positions.

As we approach the May 2025 elections, the importance of choosing qualified candidates cannot be overstated.

Local elections, held every three years, significantly shape the trajectory of our communities. While three years may seem too short for a good leader to realize his full potential, it is certainly too long for a bad one.

The performance of past leaders has shown us both the promise of effective governance, and the consequences of poor leadership.

In this digital age, social media has amplified the reach of information about our local leaders. Their successes, failures, and even their governing styles have reached every corner of our local government units and political Districts. Voters are more informed than ever, but with information also comes the responsibility of choosing wisely.

This election cycle is particularly crucial because it sets the tone for the national elections just three years away, when the country will select its next President. Our nation is grappling with a myriad of challenges—both internal and external.

Now more than ever, we need local leaders who possess not only vision and competence but also the ability to help our country navigate these storms.

Voters must take this opportunity to critically assess the qualifications of every candidate, ensuring that those elected are ready to lead with integrity and wisdom.

The future of our communities—and indeed our country—depends on it.
