Our Tatay, Engr. Teogenes Magdamo, is very important in our lives because he guided each one of us, and gave love and protection to our family. As head of our family, Tatay provided for the needs of his children/family; he also always provided spiritual and emotional support. — Mae Magdamo, marketing manager, Dumaguete Business Park Inc.

In general, dads are important because they provide a kind of love completely different from the love a mother gives. Together, both make the perfect environment to raise children to their full potential. My Dad Albert Tecson provides tough love. He teaches me and my brothers Doodz and Polo the hard truths of life. He is indispensable in my life, and provides the right motivation and words of wisdom; he just knows the perfect words to say whenever we are in a distressing stage in our lives. Dads are usually overlooked in bedtime stories but trust me, they are just as important as mothers. Happy Father’s Day, Dad! — Emilio “Lee” Tecson, senior law student, San Beda University.

My father, Salvador Vista, is important because he forms the backbone on which the institution of family stands. More than this, fathers usually tickle our funny bones. — Dr. Elizabeth Susan Vista-Suarez, dean, SU College of Performing & Visual Arts

My father, Atty. Jose “Pepe” Tiongson, was our ultimate source of strength, inspiration, wisdom, love, and protection. Papa was a man of integrity, honesty, and loyalty in the truest sense, to our provincial government where he served for a long time, and to my family whom he treasured and always cared for. We rarely get the chance to show how proud we are of our fathers. My Papa was a great public servant in a very non-politico way. He was also an excellent musician. Sadly, we were never able to record his music. But he was a fulfilled man, and that’s enough for us. — Dr. Santiago Tiongson, pediatrics, Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital

My father, Terry Havranek, is one of the most important people in my life. He has been a steady rhythm of support and encouragement that has shaped me into who I have become today. His advice helps me make decisions that guide me to be the best “me” I can be. He also gets a good laugh out of me every once in a while. Thank you, Dad, for all that you do, not only for me but for the whole family. You are always appreciated. Love you! — Treana Havranek, proprietor, Melodiya Music Studio, North Carolina, USA.

All things being usual, a father is truly important in a child’s life as he provides life lessons and living examples of how life ought to be lived. One such lesson I witnessed since childhood was how my Daddy Paping, Policarpo Arbon, despite his imperfections, would act and pour out his selfless love towards us his children, and most especially to our dearest Mom. A father like that is simply a gift from above. I couldn’t thank God enough for my Daddy’s life. — Atty. Manuel Arbon, Dumaguete City councilor

My father, Dr. Rene Abesamis, is important in my life because he tells me what I’m doing wrong, and what I’m doing right. He always corrects my mistakes. I love my Tatay even if he gets mad. Happy Father’s Day! — Mayumi Abesamis, Grade 7, SU Junior High School

My Dad, Edo Adriano, is paramount in my life because I wouldn’t be half the person I am today if it were not for him. No football any and all times of the day, no playing in the rain when it’s more than just a drizzle, no appetite for dessert more than the actual meal, and so many other things that are fun and messy which make me “me”. — Ana Joaquina Adriano, member, Shake Shack Philippines; proprietor, Vanilla Farm Bakery

My father, Pastor Raymundo Dato Jr., is important in my life because he is for me the No. 1 role model of how a father should act, and what a father should be like. He is the pillar of our family, and my guiding light when I think I’m lost. — Ameera Dato, Medical Technology freshman

Every father is important in a child’s life, especially in a daughter’s life. He will always be our hero and our first love. Together with the mother, they form the most important team who will guide and nurture a child through all of life’s amazing challenges and triumphs. Happy Father’s Day to my beloved Dad Julio Sy. — Cong. Josy Sy-Limkaichong, 1st District Negros Oriental.

A father is very important in a child’s life. Each father has a unique role in raising a child to become the person she is destined to be. I’m blessed to have a father like my Papa Porfirio Loo who is very loving, caring, hardworking, supportive of my interests, and God-fearing — among many other qualities a daughter could only wish for. I’m so grateful for having Papa in my life. — Dr. Sheila Marie Loo-Flores, pediatric hematology & oncology, SU Medical Center Foundation.

Dads are important because they love unconditionally, the way my Dad Dr. Nicanor Rosario loved me. — Dr. Rachael Marie “Dimple” Rosario-Yunque, executive director, Philippine Cancer Society; head, Supportive, Palliative & Hospice, Department of Family & Community Medicine, UP Philippine General Hospital.

Fathers are important role models for all children. Sons normally want to be like them, and make them proud. My Dad Atty. Nilo Ruperto is my hero. No matter how old I get, I continue to go to him for wisdom, protection, and strength. — Atty. Ramon Antonio Ruperto, legal counsel, Ruperto Law Offices

My father, Engr. Raul Dumalag, is important in my life for he has been my rock and my No. 1 supporter. His love for me is selfless and unconditional. I love him with all my life, and I am so grateful for what he has done for me, for my husband Robert, and our children. — Nanette Grace Dumalag-Sanglay, co-proprietor, Infomate Computer Systems.

A father, or a father-figure, is important in our lives because he is a role model in every child’s life. The love that my father, Cong. Chiquiting Sagarbarria, shows to me, and his continued presence in matters that interest me have become a wonderful part of me in my journey in discovering myself. — Melissa Sagarbarria, graduate, Hotel Restaurant & Institution Management (major in Culinary Arts), De La Salle-College of St. Benilde.
