The Land Transportation Office District Office in Bayawan City is now gearing up for the issuance of the driver’s license that has a new validity period of five years.
LTO-Bayawan District Office Chief Alberta Janine Flores-Lawas disclosed on Monday they are awaiting the go-signal from the regional office of the LTO, based in Cebu City, before they can issue the five-year driver’s license.
However, they have received a machine that would issue the new driver’s license cards with a five year validity, she said.
President Duterte had signed a law in August extending the validity of the Philippine driver’s license from three years to five years.
Lawas said she is hopeful that the regional office would soon give them the go-signal as many applicants are already asking for an update after they were issued a “paper” driver’s license pending the release and distribution of the driver’s license card machines. (Judy Flores Partlow/PNA)
