In Sibulan
Youth leaders in Sibulan town helped bring electricity to far-flung communities in their municipality through an initiative dubbed Project Ilaw.
SK Federation President Jade Castañares shared during the Network Briefing News interview over Radyo Pilipinas on Feb. 10 that the project aims to provide solar energy to families without electricity in the hinterlands.
He added that the SK leaders helped in the installation of solar equipment in these homes.
They reached as far as Brgy. Enrique Villanueva where they had to cross streams and creeks before arriving in the far-flung puroks.
Iyong ibang SK chair nagbigay ng food packs,” he added.
Castañares disclosed that the SK Federation has been active in taking initiatives to bring essential services and basic needs to their fellow youth and even to other areas in the province.
Recently, the Federation organized a relief operation in towns and cities that were heavily hit by Typhoon Odette.
He said he and other SK chairs will convene next week to finalize their youth programs for this year.
Castañares said that they were not able to implement many programs last year due to the COVID-19 restrictions and the changes in alert level status but they are determined to push through with their programs this year.
Some of their proposed programs include skills training for the youth, food processing training, and seminars on mental health and human trafficking. (RAL/PIA7 NegOr)
