A new management group that has taken over the retail business of Dynamic Development Corp. has announced the re-opening of Lee Super Plaza barely one week after it folded up last Sunday.

In a press conference, Edgar Chan, chairman of 1Prime, said he is only taking over the business of Lee Plaza.

The Dynamic Development Corp., which owns the building at the corner of Perdices and San Jose Streets, will concentrate on real estate management which, Chan said, is now the trend for big companies in the country.

The new company, Chan said, has agreed to retain the name “Lee Super Plaza” because of the 35 years of goodwill it has established with the community.

The retention of the name was also upon the request of its previous owner, and by Gov. Chaco Sagarbarria “due to the sentimental value for those who have grown up with it.”

Chan said they will be rehiring about 85 percent of the previous owner’s 1,000 employees. “I want to reopen very soon so that the employees will not be out of a job for a long time,” he said.

1Prime will also be taking over the retail operations of Lee Plaza Hypermart in barangay Bagacay, Lee Plaza-Bayawan, and Lee Plaza-Dipolog.  (AP)
