The clock is ticking.
We will hopefully know within this week if we will have a Negros Island Region or not as the Senate Bill 2507 creating the NIR with the inclusion of Siquijor, with either be vetoed by the President or be allowed to lapse into a law.
All arguments for and against the NIR have already been aired and printed and the the pros and cons of having or not having an NIR will soon be seen.
We have been hearing how bad a deal we have been getting under the present setup as part of Region 7 but we didn’t really believe that until last week, when the RDC swept Negros Oriental under the bus.
Negros Oriental was arbitrarily and unilaterally cut out of the picture by not including our flagship project, the Tamlang Valley Tamlang Valley Sustainable Agriculture for Growth and Resiliency (TVSAGR) Project from the top three programs, activities and projects (PAP) that were presented to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. during his meeting with the RDC chairpersons in Malacañang on April 30.
This project was envisioned to make Tamlang Valley as the food basket of Central Visayas and is the flagship Public Private Partnership project of the Negros Oriental LGU and NOCCI adopting the whole of nation approach to address food security, insurgency and worsening climate crisis.
This early, Cebu and Bohol are dividing the projects by themselves as if they are the only provinces served by RDC 7. What better example can you get for hoping to have the NIR?
