The Rotary Club of Marikina West embarked on the second phase of its carabao dispersal project in the northern municipality of La Libertad where they donated eight carabaos in barangays Mapalasan and Nasunggan.
The initiative was in partnership with Tuburan for Rural Women Empowerment, the municipality of La Libertad, and the SU Student Government which also raised funds to produce one carabao.
According to Renny Domingo, president of RC Marikina West, the second phase of their initiative “reaffirms their commitment to bolstering agricultural sustainability and uplifting rural communities”, in line with Rotary’s area of focus on community economic development, and international organization’s theme of Create Hope in the World.
“As the second phase of our carabao donation unfolds, the collective impact of this initiative is set to reverberate through the farming households, bringing new opportunities for sustainable growth and prosperity,” Domingo said. “It’s our continued commitment to advancing agricultural development, and supporting the well-being of local farmers,” he added.
“The collaborative approach among RCMW, Tuburan, the local government unit, and the Silliman Student Government remains a testament to the power of unified action in addressing the fundamental needs of farming communities. By working together, they exemplify the spirit of cooperation and shared responsibility in driving positive change at the grassroots level,” Domingo said.
He added that in the collaboration, the Rotary Club of Marikina West and its allies are “shaping a future where farmers are equipped with the resources and support they need to thrive. The steadfast commitment of these organizations serves as a beacon of hope and progress, inspiring meaningful change, and resilience within the farming communities.”
The expansion of the carabao donation follows the success of the initial donation of 10 carabaos in September last year in barangays Mandapaton and Mambulod. “The move aimed to further enhance the agricultural landscape and empower farmers to thrive in their livelihoods,” Domingo said. (PR)
