NORSU has new Geologists

Negros Oriental State University (NORSU), has once again produced 10 new geologists during the August 2013 Geologists Licensure Examination (GLE).

The Geologists Licensure Examination last August 13-15 was administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) through its Board of Geology in the City of Manila and the result was announced by the PRC on August 28.

The successful NORSU examinees who have passed the GLE were Nona T. Aguilar, Karl F. Achay, Idzel Bonn T. Demetillo, Ellen Rose P. Salibio, Joie T. Autor, Tamar P. Piñero, Francis Jay F. Escal, Filman G. Monceda, Michael Vincent T. Tubog and Ryan Gantalao.

Geology Department Head, Engr. Eduardo Iso, said that the university ranked fourth in the entire Philippine archipelago in terms of the most number of geologists who passed the August 2013 GLE. The University of the Philippines—Dilliman ranked first with 47 passers, followed by the University of South Eastern Philippines-Davao City with 28 passers then Adamson University with 11 passers.

NORSU is the only Higher Educational Institution (HEI) in Region 7 offering the BS Geology program. Thirty-one (31) NORSU graduates took the exam.
